Thrifty Advertising

Is there such a thing?

Here are some fun, inexpensive advertising ideas that I am trying. Please adapt them to your own business.

I made my own car magnet. My husband brought home a large fridge magnet (5x7) -- a freebie from work. I put a quick coat of acrylic paint on it and added vinyl letters and spelled out “Discovery Toys” and my phone number. I stuck in on the driver's side door.

Near it I am going to put business card magnets that I ordered free from Vistaprint. That way people can just help themselves to a magnet! Has anyone tried this?

My auto sunshade (the thing you put in the windshield to keep your car cool) had a radio station logo on it. I figured why advertise someone else’s business when I can advertise my own? I covered the design with a couple coats of acrylic paint (the kind in little bottles for 25 cents each). Again, I added large vinyl sticker letters to spell out “Discovery Toys, Join the Fun!” and my phone number.

When I finish each issue of Parenting magazine (free subscription from DT!) I cover my address with a label that says “Complements of. . “ and my DT contact info. Then I leave it in whatever waiting room I find myself in!

Please leave a comment with your own smart advertising ideas!

We may have to use some for Zach's business!

Thanks for your help at the baptism yesterday!

Go Zachini!

I also love my free business cards from Vistaprint. You still have to pay shipping (about $5) but I liked personalizing the cards myself.

Great ideas, I will definitely be using the car magnet and the magazine idea.
